America’s Test Kitchen Greek Layer Dip is layered with hummus, tzatziki, and a delicious mix of veggies and feta on top. Serve it with soft mini naan or pita bites, or any kind of salty chip or cracker. This is an appetizer that always disappears quickly at gatherings! My friend brought it to a gathering a couple months ago and I had to recreate it! It’s fresh, filling, and really flavorful. You’ll love it.

I love America’s Test Kitchen recipes! They always turn out so well. There is only a slight change I made to this, from their original recipe. In their original Greek Layer Dip, they use plain Greek yogurt instead of tzatziki. I thought using tzatziki would up the flavor a little more (and it’s really simple with a store bought tzatziki – or you could do homemade also!).

Why I Love this Greek Layer Dip:

It’s fresh, creamy, crunchy, salty, and packed with bright Mediterranean flavors that somehow feel both light and satisfying at the same time. I made this for our Book Club recently and found myself going back for “just one more scoop” approximately twelve times. We all kept going back for more!

What I love most about this dip is how simple it is to throw together while still feeling beautiful and impressive. Most of the ingredients are store bought – just a little chopping and scooping and it comes together really quickly.

A thick layer of hummus gets topped with cool tzatziki, then piled high with crunchy cucumber, roasted red peppers, briny olives, scallions, fresh mint, and feta. Every bite has a little bit of everything, and it’s absolutely delicious with soft naan bites, pita chips, or crisp veggies for dipping.

This recipe comes from America’s Test Kitchen, and it’s one of those smart combinations where all the ingredients work perfectly together without requiring much effort at all. It’s ideal for spring and summer entertaining, baby showers, game nights, book club, or honestly just a snacky dinner at home.

Why You’ll Love America’s Test Kitchen Greek Layer Dip

  • No cooking required
  • Comes together in about 15 minutes
  • Fresh and flavorful
  • Looks beautiful
  • Healthy yet filling (and ok for most diets/food restrictions)
  • Feels elevated while using mostly simple ingredients

How to Make America’s Test Kitchen Greek Layer Dip

Spread the hummus evenly into the bottom of a shallow serving dish or pie plate. Carefully spread the tzatziki over the top to create the second layer.

In a medium bowl, combine the cucumber, roasted red peppers, olives, scallions, olive oil, mint, salt, and pepper. Spoon the vegetable mixture evenly over the tzatziki layer.

Top with crumbled feta and finish with an extra sprinkle of fresh mint. Serve immediately with pita chips or sliced vegetables.

Tips for the Best Greek Layer Dip

  • Pat the roasted red peppers dry so the dip doesn’t get watery.
  • English cucumbers work best because they have fewer seeds and less moisture.
  • Make it ahead by prepping the veggie mixture earlier in the day and assembling just before serving.
  • Serve chilled for the freshest flavor.

America’s Test Kitchen (with my changes)
Prep Time 15 minutes
Assembly Time 5 minutes
Total Time 20 minutes
Serving Size 12

Ingredients

  • 2 (8 oz.) containers hummus (store bought)
  • 1 (8 oz.) container tzatziki (store bought)
  • cups English cucumbers, chopped small
  • 1 cup jarred roasted red peppers (patted dry and chopped small)
  • 1/2 cup pitted kalamata olives, chopped
  • 4 green onions, chopped small
  • 2 tablespoons fresh mint, chopped finely
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese

Instructions

Chopped Veggie and Herb Mixture

  • I like to start this recipe by preparing the chopped veggie mixture and letting it chill, until I'm just about to serve the dip.
This works great if you are hosting or waiting until later in the day to serve the dip – just prep this veggie mixture earlier in the day – and chill it until just before serving.
  • Start by dicing your cucumbers, kalamata olives, roasted red peppers, green onions, and mint leaves.
  • Combine cucumber, red peppers, olives, scallions, oil, mint, salt, and pepper in bowl. Mix gently and chill in an airtight container until ready to serve.

Assembly of the Dip

  • Spread hummus in single layer on large, shallow serving platter.
  • Next, carefully spread tzatziki in even layer over hummus (being careful to not mix the layers).
  • Spoon vegetable mixture in even layer over yogurt.
  • Sprinkle with feta (and extra chopped mint, if desired). Serve the dip with soft mini naan bites, pita chips, sliced vegetables, or any type of cracker you like.

A Fresh Appetizer Everyone Loves
