Slow Cooker Turkey
I can’t believe more people don’t know about Slow Cooker Turkey ! (Lol I didn’t even know about it until last week.) This Holiday Slow Cooker cookbook by my friend Leigh Anne is changing my world showing me so much that I can make in the slow cooker (rolls! desserts! a WHOLE turkey!).
I gave this a test last week and we all loved it. My husband raved about the flavor of the turkey. And it was SO.EASY. If you’re in charge of turkey this year and have never made one in the oven, this Slow Cooker Turkey could be a great option for you.
Herbed Slow Cooker Turkey
- 2 tbsp butter, softened
- 1/2 tsp dried basil
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp sea salt add more when plating
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 3 lb turkey breast, with bone and skin
- 1/4 c chicken broth
(Before beginning recipe, unwrap turkey, pat dry with a paper towel, and set aside.)
Mix together the butter, herbs, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
Loosen the skin on the turkey breast and rub the herbed butter mixture between the skin and meat.
Add the chicken broth to a 6 quart slow cooker.
Place the turkey breast in the slow cooker and cook on low for 4-5 hours or until it reaches 165 degrees (F).
This recipe is perfect for Thanksgiving or Christmas!
Happy (slow) cooking!
