In a medium-sized bowl, add warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let yeast proof for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
Add oil, yogurt, and salt to mixture. Mix well.
Then add flour in slowly, and once it gets thick begin to knead with your hands. You want the dough to be a little sticky so it stays soft but if it's too sticky you can add in a little more flour.
Knead on a countertop gently for 1-2 minutes. Place in a greased bowl and cover. Let rise (preferably in a warm place, like above the oven), for 30-45 minutes until doubled in size.
Once doubled in size, punch dough down and knead into a ball. Preheat a nonstick pan or griddle to the highest heat (my griddle goes up to 400°F).
To form naan, pull small sections off the dough and roll into balls (should divide into 10-14 small balls).
Flour your counter well and using a rolling pin to roll out each ball into a small circle or oval shape. Roll them thin, they will puff up when they cook.
Lay them on the hot pan or griddle and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until they are lightly browned.
Remove from pan and cover with alumnium foil until ready to serve.
Serve warm and if desired, brush with melted butter. Pairs great with my Easy Chicken Tikka Masala. Enjoy!
